The Drs. Namie North American Workplace Bullying Pioneers The Drs. Namie are founders of nonprofit organization The Workplace Bullying and Trauma Institute which superseded the original Campaign Against Workplace Bullying established in 1998. The Institute coaches bullied individuals; educates the public through books, websites, speeches, and on-site training for employers and unions; conducts research that is presented as scientific conferences and cited in the media; and educates lawmakers. In 2003, the Institute-sponsored law was introduced in the California legislature (AB 1582), America's first bill to explicitly address workplace bullying as described in this book. At Western Washington University, he designed and taught the first college course on Workplace Bullying. He started, staffed, and directed two corporate training and consulting departments. He also now serves as expert witness in bullying-related court cases. Ruth was a corporate training director and retail manager. She then earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, specializing in chemical dependency treatment services before encountering her bully supervisor. She is the work trauma expert, predicting the effects of unremitting mistreatment on targets and witnesses. The Drs.
